About This Lesson
Submitted to the EQuIP Review Panel by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The focus of this unit is to develop an understanding of ratios and rates. Students learn that ratios compare the same types of measures and represent part:whole and part:part relationships. This unit covers the following standards: 6.RP.1, 6.RP.2, and 6.RP.3. It also addresses Standards for Mathematical Practices 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7. The unit is comprised of 15 lessons each taking roughly 50 minutes.
