"Snapshots From Ukraine: Untold Stories of Teenagers" is a peace lesson plan developed by the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen of Ukraine, inviting your students to walk in the shoes of Ukrainian teens living through war. Through three short films, classroom activities and reflection exercises, students are able to explore the experiences of young people displaced by conflict, studying underground and rebuilding their communities after tragic loss. These materials are designed to promote empathy, global awareness and critical thinking by connecting universal experiences to the realities of life in war-torn Ukraine. Told in teens' own voices, these stories help learners reflect on peace, safety and what connects them across borders.
Available in English, Ukrainian, Polish, Spanish, German and French, these lessons can be adapted for a single class or for multi-day use. Each section includes discussion prompts, videos, group activities and creative writing exercises such as analyzing a Banksky mural and packing a Ukrainian teens backpack. These lessons are an exceptional resource for teachers seeking to help students understand global conflict with empathy and storytelling.
