About This Lesson

This delightful glimpse into the past takes students back to an era before television - when radio was the main form of family entertainment. The 30s and 40s were a time when imagination was key to bringing music, drama, and comedy to life. This audio program includes a popular song from those times, an excerpt from a “Fireside Chat” with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and a singing commercial. Lessons focus on the relationship between poetry and music and how to script a radio show based on a current event. The universal theme is Enduring Values.
