About This Webinar

With increasing attacks on LGBTQIA+ individuals in schools, in healthcare, in sports, and in daily life, this Vital Lessons conversation focuses on how AFT members can provide real support and safety for LGBTQIA+ students, colleagues and patients.

Join Dr. Vin Gupta and AFT President Randi Weingarten for a powerful conversation with Casey Pick, Senior Director from The Trevor Project, the leading organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQIA+ young people. Together, we’ll explore what it means to be an ally in practice, whether you’re in a classroom, clinic or public service role.

We’ll cover:

  • How to support LGBTQIA+ students and colleagues facing discrimination or isolation;
  • What healthcare providers can do to offer affirming care and safe spaces;
  • How educators and public employees can respond to anti-LGBTQIA+ policies and rhetoric; and
  • Practical, everyday actions that foster belonging and protect mental health.

This session is part of AFT’s Vital Lessons webinar series, bringing timely, trusted and practical health and wellness conversations to members in education, healthcare and public services.
