About This Lesson
This is a 90 minute math lesson for WIDA level 1 & 2 English language proficiency (ELP) students. The students engaged in learning about fractions, fraction comparisons, and had small group work time to apply their knowledge. In answer sharing they explain their problem-solving process using the target math vocabulary.
The lesson was taught online but could be used in-person as well.
Lessons and resources were kept in a Google classroom so students could return to the information for review.

Multilingual learners will construct mathematical explanations that
- Introduce concept or entity
- Describe solution and steps used to solve problem with others
- State reasoning used to generate solution
