About This Lesson

This unit was completed overall several weeks. First students experimented with recycled material to create sculptures. Paper sculptures were created next by manipulating oaktag using contour line and pos/neg space. After creating a freestanding sculpture, students painted a contour line then used pos/neg space to enhance painting in monochromatic colors. These paintings were displayed at the Brooklyn Museum Spring 2014.
